Hello again ‘stroloshoppers!

Moving is tough stuff so we’re taking this week to continue make Astroloshop spiffier and even better than before.

While you’re enjoying your (hopefully) stress-free week of merry gifts, scrumptious eats, and jolly bonding, we’re taking the week to spruce up our dear Astroloshop. We’re gearing up for new features and eventually a new home, so get excited and keep an eye out.

We do have some homework for you though: Figure out your moon and Venus sign so you can use Astroloshop even more! You can figure it out here.

But if you do need to scratch that shopping itch, treat yourself to one of these zodiac Ts. Wear your sign proudly, ladies!

Astrology and Me: How I began shopping using astrology

I remember the first time astrology made sense to me. It was in 2001 in Paris, where I studied for four years, and I asked a guy I’d only known for about 5 minutes if he was a Libra. Actually it was better than that, I asked him if he was born on October 21st. ”Qui t’as dit?” or “Who told you?” was his response. And I told him that he reminded me of a friend of mine. It was the kind of reminding that comes from the gut. He didn’t look at all like my other friend but if I closed my eyes it felt like I was with my friend. So I guessed his exact birthday and I was right.

Okay, so astrology doesn’t really work like that but I told you, it was the first time it made sense to me. From that point on, I began asking everyone their birthday. Cab drivers, bartenders, sales people. It was on! And I quickly had my nose in all the major astrology books.

Shortly after, I started to use astrology to help me shop for other people. I was meeting my boyfriend’s (at the time) mother in Vienna for the first time and all I knew was she was an Aquarius who liked to cook. Since I had the inside scoop that she was the queen of her kitchen, I decided it would be nice to give her a serving dish. I thought about Aquarians and how creative they are. I decided on a very artsy, handmade ceramic serving dish with swirls of pretty aquas and greens. When she opened it, she had a look I’ll never forget. She was so happy!

So I continued to use astrology to pick gifts. Flowers for my Taurean father’s garden, history books and travel journals for my Capricorn brother, adorable flowy dresses and tops for my Aquarian sister, and activity-based gifts for my Sagittarian mom. I was a hit on Christmas! And it felt amazing.

I began to think about astrology-based shopping all the time, particularly when it came to fashion. I could act like a personal shopper to my friends when we went out together and would often get caught giving astrology readings and style tips to strangers after a few glasses of Burgandy.

I called my senior thesis “Fate’s Apology” or rather “The defense of astrology” using Plato’s ancient usage of the word “apology” as “defense of”. And that’s how I still feel today, a daily defender of astrology. Not the kind of astrology that you read about in the back of a magazine. The true-to-life interpretive science that has helped me guide friends in finding their true passions, their true purpose, and their true cocktail dress

How To Follow Your Sign on Twitter

If you haven’t already noticed, Twitter is holding our accounts hostage! Well, not exactly. But Astroloshop’s Twitter accounts (ShopAries, ShopTaurus, etc.) can’t be found just yet in the “find people” function on Twitter.

Not to worry! Here’s how to follow your sign until the peeps (haha) at Twitter get this sorted. Once you know which signs to follow, simply scroll down on our home page and click the “follow me on twitter” link under the sign of your choice.

It’s that easy! And we’ll let you know when it’s business as usual.

Using Astroloshop is easy. I’ve created an archive of shopping recommendations for each astrological sign on twitter, so you’ll need to sign up for twitter if you don’t already have an account. Here’s the link: http://www.twitter.com

I recommend that you follow your moon sign (rules emotions) and venus sign (rules style) in addition to your, more commonly known, sun sign (the one you read about in the back of magazines in the hair salon). This way, you’ll get to know more about your style from a few different angles (and get the most out of this service!)

Once you know which signs to follow, go to twitter and search the sign you are looking for. All of Astroloshop’s signs are preceded by the word “Shop.” (e.g. ShopAries, ShopTaurus, etc). Follow as many as you like.
